Free Digital Math and ELA Activities using Google Sheets™ for Elementary Students

I'm 100% sure you've heard about Google. There's Google Drive, Google Slides, Google Forms, and then there's Google Sheets (that also acts like Microsoft Excel, but in a different way).

Using Google Sheets in the classroom not only benefits the teachers in creating lesson plans or marking students' work, but it also provides engaging activities for your students!

In this free addition and subtraction word problems, students will answer all the 12 questions that will help improve their reading comprehension and problem-solving skills. This Google Sheets activity is self-checking. When they write the wrong answer, the box turns red and they have to solve the problem again. When the box turns green, they can move on to the next question.

The 2nd free Google Sheets activity is for your ELA students to identify the types of sentences given. Just like the previous activity, there are also 12 sentences and they have to write whether it is declarative, imperative, interrogative, or exclamatory.

These Google Sheets activities are perfect for independent learning and they can serve as a homework, seatwork, or even a quiz!

How do I send this to my student?

Make sure you make a force copy link before you send them to anyone, so no one messes up your original copy. Here are the easy steps:
  1. Look at the top right of the sheets and find the green button that says SHARE. Be sure you have shared your document as "anyone with the link".
  2. Click in the search box. At the end of the link, replace the word EDIT with COPY.
  3. Click enter.
  4. Copy and paste the new link wherever you need.
Step 1 is very important because the link won't work if it's not shareable.
