What I do to Recharge from Working on my TPT Store

Have you ever felt burnout or stress during or after product creation for your Teachers Pay Teachers store? I have. SO. MANY. TIMES. Sometimes I will plan out my product only to dismiss it later. Or sometimes I am so anxious to finish a resource and because of that my brain tells me to, "go finish that and get over it!" and then I get stressed. Or when you're creating a huge product line and you get bored because you've been doing the same topic/activity for days or weeks and you just want to start a different lesson. If you answer YES to all those, high five!

I've learned so many things about myself since I started my TPT store. When I'm too focused on what I'm doing, I don't know when to stop. I don't have self-control. And because of that, I get stressed. It's like a cycle. And it's a habit I'm slowly getting rid of this 2022. So, the question is, when you are stressed and tired, how do you recharge?

For me, there is really no secret sauce to recharging myself after a stressful day. I sleep. Oh yeah, you heard me right. I sleep when I'm tired. I sleep when I'm stressed. I nap after lunch. 99.9% of my problem is solved when I sleep. 😁 After that, I feel recharged and I tend to work better than I was before sleeping.

This is a true story. I was so anxious to finish my Escape the Temple Chinese New Year Escape Room because I have 1,000 other things to do. It was a Friday and I was at my boyfriend's place at the time. The weather was so humid and I just felt like meh the whole time. You know what I did? I closed my laptop, went to bed, got my air beats, watched some Youtube videos, and eventually, I napped. I woke up around 5 pm, had some snacks, my boyfriend and I ordered something for dinner. I forgot about my escape room and I didn't touch my laptop until 10 pm. I wrote some things on my planner so I know what to do tomorrow, closed my laptop, and went to bed. And do you know what happened the next day? I finished the escape room. JUST. LIKE. THAT.

If you don't want to recharge yourself by sleeping, take a day off. If you're working on your business, then you are your own boss. And that means you are in control of the amount of work you do each day. No one's going to tell you what to do. You have no one to report to. All you have to put on the table is a great mindset and yourself. Take a walk in the park, walk your dog, cook, watch a movie, and don't feel guilty about resting or taking a break from your biz. When you wake up the next day, your business is still there. But if your health is on the line, then that's a different story. I love walking my dog, especially in the afternoon because it clears my head and I get to think of different ideas for the resource I'm creating. When I get back home, I feel recharged and ready to execute those ideas. You need to find balance in everything you do (working on it!), so you can work efficiently.
