Trivia Halloween Questions and Answers PowerPoint™ Game Show

I don't know about you, but one of my students' favorite holidays, next to Christmas or Thanksgiving, is Halloween! That's why I created this Halloween Trivia Game Show for PowerPoint™!

What's a Trivia Game Show?

A trivia game show is a quiz game or competition where the competitors are asked questions about a specific subject. It is an entertainment program on radio or television where contestants also receive prizes like money.

But this Halloween Trivia Game Show is different because the competitors are students. The game show happens inside the classroom; instead of receiving money, they receive points!

How did Halloween start?

The Halloween holiday has its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. It is a pagan religious celebration to welcome the harvest at the end of summer and ward ghosts off by lighting a bonfire and wearing costumes. In ancient times, pagans believed in many gods. It was thought that on the last night of October, the spirits of the dead roamed the Earth. Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor saints in the eighth century. Soon after, All Saints Day came to incorporate some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before All Saints Day was known as All Hallows Eve and Halloween.

Halloween Questions and Answers PowerPoint™ Game Show

This Halloween Trivia Questions and Answers PowerPoint™ Game Show consists of fundamental questions about Halloween that even your kindergartners know! Examples of these questions are:

  • What are the colors of candy corn from top to bottom?
  • Do vampires ever sleep?
  • What vegetable keeps vampires away?
  • What is the name of the most famous vampire?

Aside from that, there are five movement games students should do to gain points. These are:

  • Walk like a mummy.
  • Dance like Frankenstein.
  • Fly like Dracula.
  • BOO! like a ghost.
  • Crawl like a spider.

What are the benefits of playing trivia game shows in the classroom?

There are many benefits, whether you're a new or veteran teacher!

  1. Trivia games are an excellent way to encourage students to learn new information.
  2. They help build their teamwork skills.
  3. They learn how to listen and think critically.
  4. It's a fun way to provide friendly competitions in the classroom.

Holiday trivia game shows are fun, but it is not limited to only holidays/seasons. There are math and ELA game shows. There are also science game shows and so much more! You can play many interactive games in the classroom that provide fun and learning. Plus, it is less preparation for busy teachers like you! All you need to do is project the PowerPoint to your smartboard, set up teams, and start the game. The scoreboard keeps the score, so you must adjust it based on the team's point.
